Turner Takes Action
TEAM Turner beautifies community houses

The Capital Area United Way supports southern Louisiana families and guides them towards a better life through education, health, basic needs and financial stability. The United Way wants to create long-lasting positive changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems in these areas. Whether through volunteerism or monetary donations, Turner Industries supports United Way's vision of empowering individuals to better communities.

This year's Day of Action (formerly known as Day of Caring) had over 500 community volunteers gathered throughout the Capital Area's 10 parishes. Blaine Bonaventure headed TEAM Turner's project. The team went to The Center, Inc. Adult Day Health Care in Baton Rouge to till the ground for a new garden. Once the ground work was finished, they planted tomatoes, bell peppers, okra and cucumbers, all of which will be enjoyed by The Center. Team members then beautified the entrance by weeding the landscape and planting flowers.

At the Paris, Texas office, Sue Labbe and other Turner employees participated in the Lamar County Day of Caring. The group completed projects around the community, including building a collection bin for Shelter Agencies for Families in East Texas (SAFE-T), and building raised garden beds for the First Fruits Community Garden.
