A Heartfelt Donation
Turner raises over $4,500 toward American Heart Association
Turner Industries once again partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) this spring for their annual Heart Walk on Louisiana State University's Baton Rouge campus. Turner employees held numerous fundraisers, including "Jean Passes," which allowed employees to wear jeans on Thursdays, a jambalaya lunch, and a BBQ dinner. These events raised over $4,500. All proceeds were donated under TEAM Turner towards the AHA.
Each year, over 350 AHA walks take place across the nation, and all participating teams raise money before the walk to donate to AHA. This year, Baton Rouge's AHA walk committee raised $889,196, which goes towards their campaign to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by the year 2020.
Julie Newton, a staff member of Baton Rouge's AHA chapter, is thankful for all donations, time and effort spent by Turner employees. Funds from the Heart Walk go towards pediatric heart and stroke research, supplying the doctors with the most up-to-date research, and public health education.
