A Summer "Oasis"
Crawfish can't outshine kids' courage

TEAM Turner held a crawfish boil for teens at Baton Rouge's Youth Oasis complex, a non-profit agency dedicated to providing necessary resources and support services to youth at risk of becoming homeless. On a hot June day, the Turner crew arrived as temperatures climbed near 100 degrees, but the heat seemed to subside as the teens welcomed everyone

The day began with landscaping to give the center's entrance an updated look. While the crawfish were prepared, the teens were treated to basketball and washer board games. After showing off their athleticism, the teens sat down to a Cajun feast. Once the last of the crawfish were gone, the Baton Rouge heat turned to Hollywood glam. TEAM Turner members gathered as the teens showed off their American Idol skills. While there was no winner, judges weren't quick to dismiss that a future Idol winner could reside here in Baton Rouge.

TEAM members won't forget Youth Oasis and the smiles they brought its members. "This is the real meaning of TEAM Turner," member Brittany Marchand said. "It was an honor to have this experience. I had the pleasure of seeing a beautiful smile through a broken soul." Teri Bergeron was also touched as she saw these teens enjoy life's pleasures. "It was by far the most rewarding project I've had the opportunity to champion thus far," Teri said. Teri went on to acknowledge those who couldn't attend, but helped fund the event. A special thanks to all who participated and donated to help make this day a special one for all involved.
